The driving force behind Southend Connect is to get our whole community behind supporting local businesses of color. As gentrification has swept through most of Southend Seattle, it has led to displacement of businesses owned by communities of color which have been forced out of our community at an alarming rate. While connecting everyone in our community is a noble and worthwhile endeavor, our first priority is to make sure our whole community supports businesses run by people of color and women. We do not hide this fact. Please take time to learn about businesses in our community that are owned by people of color and not only spend money but create new and lasting relationships. You can learn about these businesses on this page and others throughout the site.
